After visiting the site many times, I decided the best way to ‘express’ rather than ‘document’ the experience of being in that building looking out was to combine often opposing views in one composite image.

“Shot on 5x7 large format film, the main frame was exposed for the interior windows and concrete, and the rest for the exterior. The exterior frames are deliberately varying in scale or ‘zoom’ to reflect the actual experience of looking through the windows at slightly varying distances from the apertures, and with attention to different aspects of the landscape.”

— Mikhael Subotzky

© Mikhael Subotzky / Magnum Photos

This print is hand-signed on an archival label to ensure authenticity and preservation, which is affixed to the back of the print.

The edition is available for purchase between:

Monday, October 26, 09:00 a.m. EDT
to Sunday, November 1, 11:59 p.m. EDT

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0849/5575/8907/files/SUM-Unframed_1d771d2b-72fc-428a-8759-310894d96e62.jpg?v=1792349886
