Christopher Anderson joined Magnum Photos in 2005. In 1999, on assignment for The New York Times, he boarded a boat with Haitian refugees which subsequently sank (the photographs from that trip earned him the Robert Capa Gold Medal in 2000). He is The New York Times' first ever photographer in residence, has photographed both Presidents Obama and Trump, and has published four books of his photography. Inspired by Ernst Haas, his color work is brought together in a new book project Bleu Blanc Rouge.

At a time of major political disruption, with the rise of populism and a swing to the right in Europe and the USA coming hot on the heels of the Arab Spring, this curation takes a look through Magnum's archive at photographs of protest from the 1930s to the present day.
