Your Magnum Shop Account

In April 2024 we upgraded to a new online store. This means that existing customer accounts no longer exist, except for those who own a Magnum online course. If this is you, you can still access your courses as usual via your login link.
If you had Gift Card credit on your previous account then this will be transferred to the new store. Feel free to ask us any questions about redeeming the value of your gift card at shop@magnumphotos.com.

Are prints hand signed?

All Magnum Square Prints are signed or estate-stamped on an archival label (to ensure quality and preservation) that is affixed to the back of the print, and includes each image’s accompanying text. All signatures are authentic and signed by the photographer’s hand. Our frames do, however, hide the signatures and stamps.

Are they signed on the front or back?

All Magnum Square Prints are signed or estate-stamped on an archival label (to ensure quality and preservation) that is affixed to the back of the print, and includes each image’s accompanying text. If a print is ordered with a standard black or white frame, this signature or estate stamp will no longer be visible and an additional unsigned or unstamped label will be placed on the frame’s backing. If the print is ordered with a premium walnut frame, the signature will be visible through a sealed plexiglass backing.

Will the signature in a frame be visible?

All prints come with either a signature or estate stamp; however, for standard black or white framing, these signatures or stamps will be discreetly hidden. Instead, an additional text label, excluding the signature or estate stamp, will be attached to the back of the frame. We've ensured that the framing is designed to allow customers to easily remove or reframe the print without causing any damage to the label.

For those seeking a more premium option, we now offer walnut wooden frames paired with plexiglass on both sides. This allows for visibility of the signature label mounted on the reverse side.

What does museum quality mean?

All prints are archival quality and are approved by the photographer. We work closely with photographers and estates to ensure that all editions are presented according to their intentions. To be precise, these are digital C-Prints on Fuji Crystal Archive Matte paper.

We aim to provide prints of the highest standard that maintain their beauty and value for years to come. Magnum Square Prints are printed on Fuji Crystal archive paper, which minimizes fading. The accompanying text labels as well as all supporting materials are archival, meaning that they are acid-free and will not damage the print or affect its longevity. The usual precautions should be taken to retain a photograph’s depth of tone and contrast, and we recommend that a photograph should not be hung in direct, continuous sunlight.

What is an estate stamp?

An estate stamp is used to signify authentication (in lieu of a signature) and is issued by the estate of the photographer (photographers who are no longer alive are represented by their estates). All estate stamps are applied individually by hand.

How large are the prints?

For Magnum Square Prints, the paper size is square, 6 x 6 in (15.24 x 15.24 cm). The image size is 5.5 in (14 cm) on the longest side. Images will not be cropped but will instead have white borders, as seen on the Magnum website during a sale.

What is the edition size?

The edition is not limited by quantity, but limited by time. Each Magnum Square Print sale runs for approximately seven days. Once a sale has concluded, the prints featured in the sale will never again be available for purchase from Magnum in the same size and format.

Are black and white images printed as silver gelatin prints?

No, all Magnum Square Prints are produced as digital C-Prints that have been proofed and approved of by the photographer or their estate.

Can the photographer add a personalized note to the print?

Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill custom signing requests for Magnum Square Print orders.

Will my photographs look exactly as they do online?

The color of your print may differ from the color reproduction of any given computer screen as all computers are calibrated differently. Computers are also lit from behind, which can affect the level of brightness of an image.

When will my order ship and when will I receive my Square Print(s)?

Prints are made throughout the sale and signed by our photographers around the world or stamped by their estates. All orders will be processed as quickly as possible.

After successfully placing an order, you will receive an email confirmation from Magnum. Once your order ships, you will receive another email which will include your order’s tracking information.
At the moment there is no postal service to Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Once your Square Print(s) ship, we will send a shipping notification to you with a tracking number. We will use the email that was used to place the order. Shipping time will depend on where you live. Please note, customs vary country-to-country, and can delay your shipment. For additional information on customs, please consult customs information.

What material is used for frames?

We use hand-crafted black or white obeche wooden frames  (w: ~¾” h: ~⅞”), and walnut wooden frames (w: ½” x h: ¾”). Magnum Square Prints are framed with a white, archival and made-to-measure mat. The prints will then be sealed using either archival paper backing, or plexiglass. They are wired, ready for hanging with wall-friendly footers. Please note, the photographer’s signature or estate stamp will be hidden by standard black/white framing.

All frames include UV plexiglass, which comes with ~99% UV protection. All products used in framing are archival quality: Japanese hinging tape, archival text labels and backing papers.

What does custom framing mean?

Custom frames are handcrafted by expert framers who give them a contemporary feel. Due to material and hand finishing, all custom frames are unique, and will never look exactly the same.

How long does it take for frames to be made?

Frames are made as soon as signed prints are received from respective photographers and stamped prints from respective estates. Because frames are custom made they will typically ship later than unframed prints.

I ordered Square Prints with other Magnum Shop items. Will they ship together?

No! All Magnum Square Print orders ship separately from other items purchased from the Magnum Shop. If you have ordered other Magnum Shop items, together with your Magnum Square Prints, we will treat them as separate orders and ship them separately. We will ship the other items out as quickly as possible. You will receive an email with a tracking number as soon as each shipment is ready.
