Lindokuhle Sobekwa emerged as a photographer when he took part in the Of Soul and Joy program in 2012. His first exhibition was held in 2013, followed by publication of his photographic essay Nyaope, in various magazines the following year. Later, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Market Photo Workshop, and has since exhibited his work worldwide. Lindokuhle Sobekwa has been selected by the Magnum Foundation and received funding to continue his long-term projects. He exhibited alongside Mikhael Subotzky in Cape Town in 2021, and staged his first exhibition at a Dutch museum in 2022. His photobook has been shown at exhibitions curated by Mark Sealy, and he became a full member of Magnum Photos in 2022.
