David Seymour's unobtrusive manner, sense of humour and ability to listen, helped in the creation of portraits that went beyond the usual “glamour shots,” conveying an air of relaxed intimacy. Ingrid Bergman notoriously had an affair with Robert Capa, after his death, she remained close to Chim, who photographed her and her family for many years to come. His humanistic approach, which yielded important work documenting conflicts and their aftermath, was complementary to his low key and personable personality, which quickly led him to become the favored photographer of many celebrities.
