“What do you think of when you think of Palestine? Perhaps Israeli genocide, perhaps apartheid, perhaps occupation. And those would all be true. But those are conditions which Israel has imposed upon us, not the entirety of who we are as Palestinians.


“Before Freedom aims to look beyond the detrimental effects of 75 years of Israeli subjugation and instead frame the livability of those remaining in their homeland: simply moving, swimming, crying, planting, loving, walking, jumping — being alive and well, despite a system designed for and intent on their removal.


“Made between 2022-2025, Before Freedom looks at the current moment in Palestine — the moment before we are free.”
