Raymond Depardon

Raymond Depardon, born in France in 1942, began photographing his family farm at 12. He joined the Dalmas agency in 1960 and co-founded Gamma in 1966, reporting globally. From 1974 to 1977, he documented the kidnapping of François Claustre in Chad. Alongside photography, Depardon directed 18 feature films, including 1974, Une Partie de Campagne and San Clemente, and published 47 books. He joined Magnum in 1978 and is based in Paris.
