Bringing together five interconnected series produced between 2016 and 2020, Subida al Cielo establishes the foundations of Ribeira's mature practice. Moving across different communities, territories and institutional contexts, the work creates spaces of encounter that transcend social and structural divisions. Through a carefully constructed visual language, documentary experience gives way to images shaped by gesture, ritual and the human figure, where individual stories gradually merge into a shared, dreamlike narrative that dissolves the boundaries between place and time.
"This body of work established the foundations of my practice. Here I fully embraced a vision connected to gesture and the representation of the body and the human figure, understanding encounter as something transformative. It is made from many different stories, but what interests me is how they gradually merge into one larger, more oneiric narrative."
