Legendary photographer and founder of the International Center of Photography, Cornell Capa, is known for his intelligent, compassionate, formally striking images. Born in Budapest, Capa moved to Paris in 1936, where his brother Andre (Robert Capa) was working as a photojournalist. Capa worked as his brother’s printer until 1937, then moved to New York to join the new Pix photo agency and later Life, pursuing a distinguished career in photojournalism. His great interests were politics and social justice. Pictured here, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip during a visit to the United States, 1957.
